The AirWall NEXUS is an inflatable air containment, sound containment, and visual containment wall panel that replaces the function of a thin plastic dust containment sheet with a robust, sealed, and reusable wall.
The AirWall NEXUS divides rooms, blocks 15db of sound, controls contaminants AND temperature, and it goes up in a fraction of the time of conventional containment. Robust construction and materials, along with multiple layers of redundancy, ensure years of reliable performance.
Modular, backward-compatible design elements ensure versatility well into the future as you grow and expand. The Nexus is the backbone of the AIRWALL ecosystem that goes way beyond containment and into the land of total environmental control.
Included: The main body, 5 10-foot-long inflatable inner tubes (one for each chamber),1 soft topper, 1 soft edge seal 10ft. long, and an oversized heavy-duty duffel bag.
Features: 5 individual air chambers for redundancy, durable vinyl foot, rugged 500 denier outer shell with heavy-duty zippers for daisy-chaining multiple Nexus walls and attaching to various accessories. Multiple D rings for stringing power cords up off the floor, hanging ducting, attaching monitoring equipment, etc.

AirWall FAQs
AIRWALS are made from a polyester fabric with a polyurethane coating. This combination is easily vacuumed, wet wiped, machine washed and/or disinfected with common antimicrobial solutions.
We used the best materials we could find knowing full well that the crews that handle these tools will handle them roughly. The zippers are oversized and made by YKK, every one of our products that comes into contact with the floors of the built environment with a durable bonded vinyl foot for long life. The parts that come into contact with the walls and ceilings are replaceable if they happen to wear out and everything is machine washable. As a company focused on having a positive impact on the environment we deliberately did not build them with obsolescence in mind, quite the opposite, durability and future/reverse compatibility are inherent in all of our designs.
Toggle ContentFor the AIRWALL X and Xpress as well as the Blox and Xhausts, the answer is yes. These products use the air from your air movers and HEPA machines to function. In regards to the NEXUS however, the answer is a resounding no. The dust curtain and doffing chambers rely on the steady support of the NEXUS’ and an internal frame respectively, so they also operate independently of a constant air supply which means that they are immune from power failure and can perform reliably for as long as needed on one fill up from a high volume air pump or any standard wet/dry vac.
If it is a constant air flow product like X and Xpress then holes are basically irrelevant. In fact the constant air flow products have large holes designed into them so that they can be used like a manifold. If a repair is required the user simply cuts an appropriately sized, glueless, instant set patch and places it on the backside of the hole, cut or tear.
Damaged bladders are actually quite rare but very simple to repair/replace and can be done while the containment is in place so that there is no down time or breach of containment. The user cuts an appropriate size glueless, instant set patch and places it over the damaged area or replaces the bladder with a new or undamaged unit and installs the functional bladder per instructions.
Absolutely yes! The high quality YKK zippers and snaps are designed to be compatible with each other now and many years from now. A user can connect multiple Xpresses, end to end, top to bottom or even bottom to bottom. The NEXUS is daisy chainable with the same zippers that allow a user to connect the edge seals or integrate a dust curtain for ingress and egress. So you can create 100 feet of barrier, a cube, a tube or any shape that suits the environment with or without one or more points of entry.
All NEXUS and the dust curtain are designed to be used in rooms with ceilings up to 10 feet high. A user only needs to attach 1 or 2 12 inch extensions depending on the need. Additionally, if a room has an irregular height, often due to t-bar drop ceilings or very old construction, a t-bar kit can be purchased that includes the straps needed to achieve any height between 8 feet and 10 and can even accommodate shallow to moderate slopes.
No. This would be a situation when plastic only or a hybrid use of AIRWALLS and plastic would come into play.
We do not currently have a line item in Xactimate but we will with time and increased adoption in the industry. This is, in fact, a unique time for the early adopters out there because they will have the rare opportunity to help dictate what the compensation will be for this type of containment. The people at Xactimate check with current users to determine what the per diem or flat rate might be. You will get paid by billing for containment as you normally would but many users justify higher rates of compensation by providing superior protection and reliability as well as the added benefit of sound abatement.
Yes. AIRWALLS outperform plastic containment by 200-400% and yes, they do this without any physical attachment to the building. They rely on air pressure, compression and friction to maintain that high level of performance.
Yes. The AIRWALL X is a constant air supply barrier designed specifically for doorways 28” to 36” wide. It uses the discharge of an air mover or NAM to first fill itself and the door opening and then redistribute the air as a manifold, send it out of the room to maintain negative pressure or hold the air for a static barrier. Beyond the X we also have the AIRWALL Airlox kit which makes it possible to create a large (11.5-15 square feet) or small (9-7 square feet) decon/doffing chamber using two NEXUS walls. The Airlox also fits in standard doorways 28-36” wide.
No. Tape is compatible with our product should the user need to integrate plastic into the containment for a hybrid set up and poles can sometimes be used to assist in set up or to further reinforce a span but generally speaking tape and poles are completely unnecessary. AIRWALLS without poles outperform the best forms of containment, including poles and compression timber stud walls by 200-400% so any use of poles is very much discretionary and tape is simply not needed unless the situation requires some use of plastic.
It depends on what services you provide. For mold remediation we recommend at least a basic mold kit which includes two NEXUS walls, a dust curtain and a doffing chamber along with some edge seals and extensions for higher ceilings. You may also choose to add one or two additional NEXUS to manage slightly larger jobs. For chamber drying we recommend the same minus the doffing chamber. If you do a lot of crawl spaces, especially in colder climates, we recommend at least two Xpress and one Blox. If you do odor control or small mold jobs then we recommend an AIRWALL X. For simple air exhaust out of a window we recommend that you pick up an Xhaust 1 and 2 for maximum adaptability.
